Annual Inspection
WEDNESDAY, 23rd JUNE, 1971.
Inspecting Officer GENERAL SIR JOHN MOGG, K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., A.D.C. GEN. ADJUTANT-GENERAL
INSPECTION
The Parade is drawn up in single line with Pipes and Drums in rear. The Colours are marched on to the Parade to the School March "The Victorian" and given a "Salute" by the Parade. (Spectators rise for the Salute.) The Inspecting Officer is conducted to the Saluting Dais. He is received by a "General Salute" at 3.45 p.m. (Spectators rise for the Salute.) The Senior Monitor, commanding the Parade, reports the Parade "Ready for Inspection" to the Inspecting Officer. The Inspecting Officer, preceded by two Boy Orderlies, and accompanied by the Senior Monitor, Commandant, and Headmaster, inspects the Parade, returning after to the Dais.
MARCH PAST
The Parade moves off and forms Columns of Guards to the left of the Saluting Base. The Pipes and Drums play "Blue Bonnets over the Border". The Guards march past in slow time to the tune "The Mist Covered Mountains". (Spectators rise as the Colours pass them.) The Parade reforms line to the tune "Pibroch of Donald Dhu" and then advances in Review Order to "Scotland the Brave" and again gives a "General Salute". (Spectators rise for the Salute.)
ADDRESS AND PRESENTATION OF PRIZES AND TROPHIES
The Parade forms three sides of a square and advances to the Saluting Base. The Inspecting Officer addresses the Parade. Boys leaving the School are fallen in in front of the Dais and introduced individually to the Inspecting Officer by the Senior Monitor. Lady Mogg presents non-academic Prizes, Trophies, and Medals. The Senior Monitor calls for Three Cheers for General Sir John and Lady Mogg.
MARCH OFF
The Senior Monitor requests permission to march off from Inspecting Officer. The Parade reforms line and marches off, headed by Pipes and Drums playing "Highland Laddie". (Spectators stand during March Off until Colours have left the Parade Ground.)
