ARMY SECTION
It seems that the closing date for The Victorian is such that our Army Section reports always end up incomplete. The printer's deadline is such that it falls in between an important event and the results of this event. The Annual Administration Inspection took place just before the last magazine was published and the outcome was not reported. Group Captain Locke's report was very good indeed, and all the Corps are to be congratulated. We are now coming to the end of the first year of the Apex scheme for Proficiency Certificate and all the candidates, except three, have completed one part of each of the three sections. We have arranged with Capt. J. Merritt for his Cadet Training team to examine the candidates for the remaining two compulsory subjects. This will be done before Grand Day but after The Victorian has been published. The RE Section is still flourishing under the able instruction of Sgt. Simpson and we hope that we will soon be able to start a small Signals Section, thus adding variety to the post Proficiency programme.
This year we had two Easter camps; the D of E boys at Cultybraggan, and the skiers at Aviemore. Of the four boys who went to Cultybraggan three W. Murray, A. R. Menzies and A. Crawford, were doing the Silver expedition and S. Langlands was doing the Gold. All completed their expeditions successfully. Two of our own officers are very experienced assessors of this type of work and attended the camp in this capacity. The Cultybraggan people wanted dry warm weather from the 2nd to the 9th of April while the skiers wanted snow from the 10th to the 16th. The expedition boys were lucky, so the skiers went up to the Rothiemurchus Ski Hut wondering whether they would put on their skis at all. Fortunately there was enough snow high up on the slopes and every one had a very enjoyable time.

Annual Camp will again be at Kingussie, from the 16th to the 24th of July, and along with the usual activities there will be a three day pony treking expedition. The next issue of The Victorian (this time next year) should contain an interesting article on the subject. As last year Capt. Woodhouse will have his canoeing expedition, which, taking the work he has done in training his canoeists into account, should be very successful. On the 26th of May we were very fortunate in having a visit from the Parachute Regiment, who keep Wavell boys amused by erecting a thirty-two feet tower, which sported a colossal wooden paratrooper. During the afternoon we had a lecture on the principles of parachuting, followed by a film which showed the advantages of using airborne infantry. In the evening everyone in the CCF had a chance to jump from the tower, with a harness of course. Everyone had a most enjoyable and informative day.
